IN HOUSE Working at Height course (half day)

Working at Height course

Description

Who is this course for?

One of the biggest causes of injuries and fatalities is from working at heights, falling from ladders and through fragile surfaces being the commonest cases.

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) describes Working at Height as “work in any place where, if there were no precautions in place, a person could fall a distance liable to cause personal injury (for example a fall through a fragile roof).

Work needs to be properly planned, supervised and carried out by competent, skilled individuals who have the knowledge and experience to do the job.

Anyone who works at height in any place is required to undertake training to prove that they are competent and safe in their work.

It is the employer’s duty to ensure that this training is provided: Regulation 5 of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 states that employers must ensure all employees engaged in any work at height activity must be competent to do so.

What are the course objectives?

  • Legal Duties imposed by the working at height regulations 2005
  • The risk assessment process
  • The Hierarchy of control measures
  • Selection of appropriate work equipment
